Manchester City: Phil Foden has shown 'leadership' - Nedum Onuoha

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha believes Phil Foden has developed into a key leader for Pep Guardiola's side this season.

The 23-year-old, who made his top-flight debut in 2017, has already played 148 times in the Premier League.

Onuoha told BBC Radio Manchester's We’re Not Really Here podcast: "When I went to watch the game against Young Boys, in the warm-up - it was the first little bit when you go off in your pairs - Phil was with Rico [Lewis] and Micha [Hamilton].

"But he chose to be with them as Phil - not by age, but by standing - is a senior pro in that group.

"He wanted to make sure those guys were comfortable as they are on the path he has been on.

"For me, that is leadership. To make sure everyone is comfortable."
