Quick and skillful hunters, bat-eared foxes are prevalent in Etosha. Also known as big-eared foxes, they use their keen sense of sound to detect nutritious insects underground, especially termites. They also prey on small rodents, such as mice and rats. Their ability to run at full speed and change direction sharply helps them catch their prey. Bat Eared Fox

Bat-eared foxes live in dens underground, safe from predators and the elements. Always alert outside of the den, bat-eared foxes listen for danger and will scurry into their burrows to hide.
